As a matter of interest: The Commonwealth Railways (Australia) imported 3 units from Budd Corp (Philadelphia) in 1950 plus one S.H passenger car from Reading (USA) for remote area working.I believe that they were originally? fitted with 2 x 275HP GM110 s stroke engines.Later replaced with Detroit GMs in 1976.One is still preserved in National Railway Museum and others used as staff cars for long distance freight working.Other railways used similar units but were sourced locally under license etc.

The RDC's were powered? by the 6-110. Most railroads have since repowered them with Cummins or Cat engines.

I wonder if they still have their original Detroit 8V-71 series diesels? Or if they were replaced with the 92 series or the 60 series, since parts are now much more difficult to get for those tough old 71 diesels that were also used in many transit buses and highway trucks. (What America used? to build!)
